About English Language Arts programs

The Language Arts programs for kids at Elamb are designed to help children develop strong reading, writing, and communication skills. In our Language Arts classes, students learn to read with understanding and fluency, write clearly and effectively, and listen and speak respectfully. They also develop important critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they explore different genres of literature and practice expressing their own ideas in writing. Our experienced and certified teachers use a variety of engaging instructional methods to support each child’s individual needs and learning style.

Vocabulary

Teachers assist students to explore the meanings of expressions and distinguish the characteristics. Students are encouraged in experiments using new vocabulary in practice and learning from the practice. By integrating lexicology, our students can understand the meanings of words and expressions thoroughly and accurately.

Reading

Students are encouraged to read a wide rank of books, fiction and non-fiction books for pleasure as part of their Language course. Book report presentation is a fun activity that can help enhance students’ interest in self-motivated reading. Students’ comprehensive and annalistic abilities can be efficiently enhanced while discussing and exploring their favourite reading materials with teachers and peers.

Grammar

Some common methods could be used to improve students’ interest in learning grammar. One of them includes encouraging students to explore grammatical laws in reading and writing, and another one is providing students with opportunities to apply these grammatical laws in their writing assignments.

Writing

We love to brainstorm with our students. We love to nourish our students’ imagination and creativity. Taking feedback from teachers, students can draft and carefully revise their works and present their works in front of their classes with confidence. To encourage students to write, we provide our students with opportunities for writing contests. Many of our students have gained awards in these writing contests.

French

French is one of our official languages in Canada. French Immersion schools can be found in many provinces. At eLamb Academy, based on our students’ ages and school types, we have divided our French classes into three categories: French Foundation, Core French and French Immersion. All curricula are based and developed from Ontario French Curriculum. We foster students’ French study interests and enhance students’ overall French skills.
